Paddles for Patriots is a veteran project dedicated to empowering veterans through outdoor recreational activities on America’s waterways. Our mission is to support veterans’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being by fostering camaraderie, building community, and facilitating personal growth through shared experiences in outdoor activities.
our history
Founded in 2018 by Army combat veteran CB Soldat, Paddles for Patriots began as a grassroots effort to connect veterans through outdoor recreation and paddle-based activities that rebuild purpose, resilience, and camaraderie after service. What started as a small project in Louisiana grew into a mission-driven organization dedicated to helping veterans reconnect with nature, rediscover teamwork, and strengthen their physical and mental well-being on the water.
Over the years, the program expanded to include community paddling events, veteran mentorship, and partnerships focused on outdoor healing and skill-building. Now based in Virginia, Paddles for Patriots continues its commitment to empowering those who served — using paddle sports as both a tool for recovery and a pathway back to community.
Established long before similar organizations adopted the name, Paddles for Patriots remains rooted in its original mission: to serve those who served, one paddle stroke at a time.
